Forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center have fine-tuned the severe weather outlook for the Southern United States this week. That forecast does include a slight risk of severe storms over much of Louisiana during the day on Wednesday. However, some strong storms could slide into the area as early as this evening.

The National Weather Service forecast suggests that today, Tuesday, won't be so bad as far as precipitation is concerned. You can expect a quick passing shower but the biggest weather worry will be the breeze. Expect southerly winds gusting up to 20 mph or more during the day today.

By tonight rain chances will be on the increase and after midnight appears to be when our best chance for stronger storms will begin. The threat of showers and storms will stay in the area through the morning commute on Wednesday. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you experienced showers off and on throughout the workday.

We can expect showers and thunderstorms to eventually move out of the area late Wednesday evening into the early hours of Thursday morning. Once the storm system and the clouds move out of the way on Thursday things should calm down and a rather nice and calm weekend is forecast for South Louisiana.
