When a teenager does an act of kindness it’s even more special. There is a local teenager that we should all be proud of. According to KATC, Mark Smith told his mom that instead of buying him gifts for Christmas, he wanted her to spend that money on supplies to help the homeless. How incredibly selfless and kind. The 13-year-old said he has always worried about homeless people and he wanted to do something to help them.

On Sunday, December 20th, he set up a table in downtown Lafayette and handed out bags that he put together for the homeless. The 26 bags included things like snacks, supplies, and socks.

Smith said he plans to make this an annual event and hopes that each year it will grow with more supplies.

What a beautiful Christmas wish, Mark Smith. Merry Christmas to you!
