You Have Made An Unforgettable Christmas For Lafayette Area Homeless Students [Pic]
To say simply "Thank You" could never encapsulate the gratitude and admiration we wish to extend to you for your overwhelming generosity. You have helped save Christmas for the homeless students in the Lafayette area. We asked for your help, and you've floored us with your kindness.
Last week, Jaycee from our sister station KTDY interviewed Edi from Spa Mizan about an effort she was involved with along with the Lafayette Parish School Board to collect gifts for the 755 homeless students in the Lafayette area. When we saw it, we knew we had to do something. Most of all, we knew if we asked you to help, you would come through for these kids.
Because of your generosity over the past seven days, and through the tireless efforts of our friends at Spa Mizan, Planet Radio 105.1, Hot 107.9, KTDY, KPEL 96.5, ESPN 1420, we are overjoyed to inform you all the kids on the school board's list are now taken care of for Christmas!
Not only that, but your generosity is also putting a fantastic set of events in motion.
The kind people at the American Legion have agreed to store the overflow of donations for the school board. What this means is, everything that isn't going to these kids this Christmas will be used for birthdays throughout the school year, and will give the school board a giant leap forward in preparing for next year's Christmas.
The school board says they see an increase of homeless students twice a year at the beginning of the school year and after the Christmas break. The need for these kids is ongoing 12 months a year.
From all of us at Townsquare Media, please know how appreciative we are of your Herculean efforts to fix this easily solved need this Christmas. You have definitively set in motion a chain of events for these kids that all of us in Acadiana will benefit from as these children grow up in our community.
