Soundgarden‘s split at the height of their success in the ’90s came as a surprise to many of their fans, especially given the fact that there wasn’t much trash talking or drama as they parted ways.

Soundgarden are playing to healthy crowds on their reunion tour — and their nabbed a plum spot on the ‘Avengers’ soundtrack with its first new song in more than 15 years — but frontman Chris Cornell knows rock ‘n’ roll doesn’t dominate the charts the way it used to, and it’s got him feeling sort of glum.

After a triumphant reunion that included a headlining slot at Lollapalooza, Soundgarden are focusing on their future — and a new album might be in the cards.
