It’s only been four years since Sony’s attempt to reboot RoboCop with Joel Kinnaman as the cop-turned-crime-fighting-cyborg — though you’d be forgiven if you’ve already forgotten the bland remake of Paul Verhoeven’s satirical 1987 sci-fi classic. That might be an advantage for MGM, which is plotting a new RoboCop movie with District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp at the helm.

RoboCop has its cult following. Many people weren't happy that they were remaking it. Then the news came that Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. MF Jackson were cast. IMO that got me a little more excited. Now, if they'll only make it rated R and not PG-13 (this hasn't been announced yet) that would make or break my decision to see it. Two years ago, Kickstarter launched a page to have a statue made of Detroit's most infamous cop, RoboCop! The Kickstarter page raised $67,436 and the 10-foot statue is near complete.

Robotic law enforcement machines kinda like RoboCop may become a reality! While these won't be half man half machine a la the actual RoboCop, they'll be machines controlled by disabled policemen and veterans. The first run of these could be coming to New Jersey sooner than you might think. Read more on what they are expected to do.

A few months ago, I joked that Chuck Norris was rumored to star in a remake of RoboCop. Well, a new viral campaign video shows that there is indeed a remake of RoboCop coming to theaters in 2013. It doesn't star Chuck Norris, but Joel Kinnaman from AMC's 'The Killing' will be playing Alex Murphy. Watch the viral video after the jump.

I heard a rumor that a remake of the classic film RoboCop is being made. Part of the rumor is that I heard they cast Chuck Norris to play RoboCop. I have no idea, besides the advancements in visual effects, why they would remake RoboCop.
