Since rock legend Lou Reed passed away on Oct. 27, an incredible amount of musicians have offered their condolences. However, not much had been heard from the members of Metallica, who recorded the collaborative album 'Lulu' with Reed in 2011. However, one day shy of the 'Lulu' album's second anniversary, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has offered a lengthy and heartfelt tribute to Reed.
It’s often been said that Lou Reed’s influence was exceedingly disproportionate to his sales figures. That statement is proven by three of today’s biggest bands, which have performed his songs in the days following his death on Oct. 27.
There is now a confirmation of the cause of Lou Reed’s death. It has been revealed that the Velvet Underground and solo star died at his home on Long Island yesterday (Oct. 27) of an ailment that stemmed from his recent liver transplant.
'LuLu', the latest album from Metallica and their first ever collaborative effort with former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed, continues to be given mixed to negative reviews. This is the first LP from Metallica not to reach number 1 on the Billboard charts in 20 years.
Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujilio appeared with Lou Reed on the French show, ‘Taratata,’ which aired on Nov. 25. The episode was taped on Nov. 9, and in addition to the trio sitting down to field questions about and discuss their collaborative ‘Lulu’ album, the band and Reed performed two songs from the record.
