Scott Is The Boudin Capital Of The World!

State Representative Stephen Ortego and Senator Jonathan Perry put into motion for Scott to be honored with the title of Boudin Capital of the World! Annnnnd it's been passed by the Senate! Check out some other fun facts about the title after the jump!

According to American Press the title of Boudin Capital of the World was already betrothed to Broussard. And Jennings was named Boudin Capital of the Universe! Now, with the help of Representative Ortego and Senator Perry, the Senate has spoken and Scott now holds the title of Boudin Capital of the World.

"The Perry-Ortego resolutions note that five business establishments within the city of Scott account for the manufacture and sale of over 1.3 million pounds of boudin year. It adds that Scott is in the process of establishing an annual boudin festival.

The first competition for the boudin title took place during the 1979 session of the Louisiana Legislature. Former Rep. Jimmy Martin of Welsh wanted to give Jennings the world title, but the late Rep. Allen Bares of Lafayette was first to get his resolution in the hopper giving Broussard the world title.

Not to be denied, Martin got legislative approval for a bill naming Jennings the Boudin Capital of the Universe. It was approved by the House and given a unanimous 38-0 vote in the Senate."

The title will go into effect August 1st.
