Lafayette is no stranger to a good cup of coffee so it is no surprise that the opening of a new coffee shop concept in town has been on everyone's radar. In June, Developing Lafayette reported that construction for Scooter's Coffee's first Louisiana location had started off of West Congress in front of Hub City Fitness Elite right next to Bayou Shadows Apartment Complex. As we get closer to October, their tentative opening month, construction has reached its final stages.

Chick-fil-A Launches 'Mobile-Thru' Lane—Will Louisiana Be Next?
In an effort to get customers in and out of their drive-thru line, Chick-fil-A launched a new feature on their mobile app that has started rolling out to select locations across the country. Customers will now have the option when they place an order through the mobile app to pick up using the 'Mobile-Thru' express lane. Typically when you place an order on the app it prompts you to select drive-thru, carry-out, or dine-in. Now with the addition of the 'Mobile-Thru', customers will have a new, and hopefully quicker, pick-up option on the app.

Jelly giant Smucker's, known for making fruit spreads and Jif peanut butter, announced on Monday, September 11th that they have officially signed an agreement to acquire the Twinkies maker, Hostess Brands Inc. Smucker's makes everything from Milk-Bone dog treats to Folgers Coffee. Chief Executive Mark Smucker said in an interview that "Hostess brands bring a new way to reach consumers during new parts of the day" far beyond Uncrustables or Jif peanut butter is capable on its own.
