Governor Edwards said Tuesday afternoon that a dozen more parishes were added to the federal declaration, which means that residents of those parishes now qualify for FEMA assistance.

Evangeline, Jeff Davis, and St. Martin parishes were added to the list that already included Lafayette, Acadia, St. Landry, and Vermilion Parishes.

Governor Edwards did urge people to continue to register for FEMA no matter if their location is on the declaration or not. This will help get declarations in those parishes.

To register call !-800-621-FEMA or go to www.disasterassistance.gov.
