In the final home game in New Orleans Hornets history, the Dallas Mavericks (40-40) were in control from start to finish, defeating N.O. by the score of 107-89. Dirk Nowitzki reached a milestone, while the Hornet mascot Hugo (pictured) performed for the final time.

Nowitzki paced the Mavs with 19 points, scoring the 25,000th point of his career in the process, becoming the 17th player in NBA history to do so. As soon as the game ended, Nowitzki shaved off his scruffy beard. Why? Because Dallas was above .500.

"It's been too long," Nowitzki said. "My wife stopped kissing me somewhere in February. It feels good to shave again."

New Orleans (27-54) is nowhere near .500. With only one game left this season, the Hive had a nice crowd of 17,246 to say goodbye to the Hornets nickname. After Wednesday's game in Dallas, the franchise will begin the Pelicans era.

Huge, the Hornet mascot, performed in his final game. A Hugo video tribute was played on the overhead screen during a timeout in the fourth quarter. The fans that were left gave him a nice applause.

The fact that Hornet fans could only cheer for a sideshow act on Sunday night tells you everything you need to know about their performance...it was lacking.

Without Anthony Davis, the Hornets seemed out manned from the tip. Defensive breakdowns, an inability to close-out on shooters, 10 turnovers, and a few cold stretches from the field led to a rout.

Ryan Anderson scored a team-high 20, while pulling down 12 boards. Robin Lopez chipped in a double-double too, scoring 10 and grabbing 13 rebounds.

The season finale on Wednesday versus the Mavericks is set for 7:30.
