Mandatory Evacuation Issued for Grand Isle

A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for Grand Isle ahead of Tropical Storm Laura and Tropical Storm Marco.

Grand Isle Mayor David Camardelle ordered the mandatory evacuation earlier today (08/23/20) and says a curfew will be in place starting at 9 p.m. tonight (08/23/20) according to KLFY.

Mayor Camardelle says Grand Isle is expecting storm surge between 4 and 6 feet, as well as tropical force winds beginning as soon as today.

KLFY reports an evacuation center has been established at the Raceland Recreational Center, located at 221 Recreation Drive in Raceland.
