Louisiana Ranks High On ‘Most Miserable States’ List
We've seen Louisiana make a lot of lists. Some of them claim we're the happiest, and some, like this one, claim that we're miserable.
Louisiana comes in at number 49 out of the 50 states that make up the USA for how miserable we are. So, how did they come up with the rankings?
According to 24/7 Wall St., here is where Louisianians rank in these areas:
Residents who like what they do every day: 71.9% (7th lowest)
Residents w/ a strong social relationship: 73.3% (8th lowest)
Residents in near perfect physical health: 52.6% (15th lowest)
Poverty rate: 20.2% (2nd highest)
Violent crime rate: 566.1 per 100,000 (5th highest)
It seems that people aren't happy in their jobs, aren't very social, we all know that we're one of the most unhealthy states, our poverty rate is ridiculously high, and we're one of the states with the most violent crime.
The site also says that 55.4% of adults believe the area where they live is the perfect place for them. Unless most people are lying all the time, this one seems hard to believe. The majority of people around here love and cherish the area, and should it from the rooftops every chance they get. That 55.4% puts us at the smallest share of all the states.
As far as the poverty line goes, more than 1 resident in 5 in the state live in poverty, the second highest poverty rate in the country.
So, what do you think? Are we miserable in Louisiana, or did they just ask the wrong people?
