True Blood, HBO's blockbuster paranormal drama, entertains an audience of 13 million viewers (and counting) each episode. Menus at the now-famous Fangtasia and Merlotte's Bar and Grill play a key role in the series, providing sustenance for its human characters, evoking memories of a bygone life for its vampires, and serving as a powerful symbol for the desires and carnal needs the characters harbor. Now, you can use the recipes inspired by the show.

Cajun chef Marcelle Bienvenu worked with HBO to build the collection of recipes from unforgettable scenes, each introduced by True Blood's most compelling characters. The 85 authentic bayou country recipes and 150-plus photos from the series in this book give fans a big taste of Bon Temps.

The book includes directions for such delicacies as blood-red beet bisque and sweet tea "bloodied" with pureed strawberries and raspberries. Parts of "True Blood" are filmed in Louisiana, set in the fictional town of Bon Temps. Louisiana cuisine plays a part in the show, where characters often enjoy okra gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. The cookbook, "True Blood: Eats, Drinks, and Bites from Bon Temps," is being released in bookstores on Wednesday, shortly after Sunday's broadcast of the show's fifth-season finale.
