The Louisiana Department of Transporation and Development will be closing the left lane of traffic on Highway 90 Westbound at the railroad overpass in Broussard Sunday so workers can install sheet piles for ongoing work in that area.

The closure will start at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning and is expected to wrap up at around noon.

Alternate routes include Highways 89, 182, 352 and 31.

This work is part of the ongoing Geaux South program which will lead to the widening of Highway 90 from Albertson's Parkway to just north of Ambassador Caffery.

Still on the list of projects to complete, is the creation of an overpass on Highway 90 about the Albertson's Parkway, and new overpass for the railroad and updates for frontage roads.

The entire $57 million project is not expected to be finished until 2017.
