Just Another Reason To Believe Hoverboards Aren’t Far Away [Video]

I remember the day I went see Back To The Future Part 2 in theaters. The only thing (besides it being an awesome movie) that was in my head, was the Hoverboard that Marty McFly obtains in the year 2015. Well, the cool news is that Mattel will be releasing a replica of the infamous hovering device. The not-so-cool news is that it doesn't actually hover.

It isn't quite 2015 yet but Mattel has recently released this statement:

Finally! This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually ‘hover’ – check back in 2015 for that feature). We’ll be taking orders for it March 1 – March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012…The price will be announced later this month. (Note: Hover board does not work on water.)

I guess it still will not work on water......unless you got power!

I was yet amazed and depressed when I first saw the hoverboard on the big screen, because I thought, in 2015, I will be in my mid-30s. But this is still pretty cool.

They are actually trying to invent the technology today. JoBo had a couple neat stories about quantum levitation and from the video below it looks like they are getting closer to hovering technology with this method. Check it out....an actual board that hovers!

I wonder if we will see Griff Tannen's 'Pit Bull' next? That's what I want! Hook on!
