This Louisiana City is one of the Worst ‘Foodie Cities’ in America

Louisiana takes food very, very seriously. It is at the center of all of our holiday celebrations, parties, and even funerals. In a recent study conducted by WalletHub a Louisiana city found itself at the bottom of the list, ranking as one of the worst cities for food enthusiasts in America.

WalletHub evaluated over 180 of the most populous cities across the nation to determine their "foodie-friendliness" based on several key metrics. The study took into account factors such as accessibility, diversity, and quality of the local food scene, as well as affordability in terms of dining options and groceries.

WalletHub Methodology

WalletHub used a specific approach when creating these rankings. They wanted to make sure that cities from every state in the U.S. were considered. So, out of the 182 cities they ranked, they first selected the 150 most populated cities in the country.

Then, to ensure that there was at least some representation from each state, they added another 32 cities from less populous areas, making sure that there were at least two cities from each state on their list.

The Worst City For Foodies in Louisiana

WalletHub crowned Shreveport with this unfortunate title. Their overall ranking of 181 out of 182 cities highlighted several areas where the city struggled to appeal to foodies.

Shreveport was found to have the worst food scene in terms of diversity, accessibility, and quality, earning it the last spot on the list at #182 in this category.

Additionally, the city ranked unfavorably for affordability, coming in at #142 among the cities studied. The data also revealed that Shreveport had one of the worst ratios of full-service restaurants to fast-food establishments in the entire nation.

The Best City For Foodies

Orlando, Florida, secured the top spot on the list, earning high marks for accessibility, diversity, and quality due to its abundance of well-reviewed restaurants, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, and specialty food stores.

However, Orlando's ranking was affected by its affordability, placing it at #108 out of 182 cities in that category.

Maybe we are biased, but Acadiana is home to some of the best home-cooked food around. We are still shocked that not a single Acadiana city was ranked on this list. We call for a do-over.
