The Louisiana Department of Revenue released a news release today which said that hunters will get a discount on state sales tax when they shop for firearms and other hunting supplies this weekend from Friday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 4th.

The Louisiana legislature created the 2nd Amendment Sales Tax Holiday in 2009 to exempt eligible purchases of guns, ammunition and hunting supplies from all state and local sales taxes.

The state sales tax exemption for 2016 and 2017 is now two percent. So when you purchase firearms or hunting supplies, eligible purchases are subject to only three percent state sales tax instead five percent and will remain fully exempt from all local sales taxes.
