First US Ebola Patient Thomas Eric Duncan Dies
Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person in the United States diagnosed with the Ebola virus, has died Wednesday morning at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Duncan arrived in Dallas on September 20th from Liberia in West Africa, where the virus has killed thousands of people. He fell sick a few days later and went to the emergency room at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and was sent home with antibiotics.
He returned to the hospital on September 28th where he was then diagnosed with Ebola. Health officials believe that during the time he was contagious, he came into contact with at least 10 people. The CDC is trying to contain the virus in Dallas so it doesn't become a pandemic situation like in West Africa.
