Back in August, Brendan Dassey had his conviction overturned. Now, the judge that overturned his conviction has ordered him released.

According to KATC:

Prosecutors are currently appealing Brendan Dassey's overturned conviction. While they are in the process of appealing, U.S. Magistrate Judge William Duffin ordered Dassey released from federal prison. His release would be contingent upon him meeting multiple conditions.

Judge Duffin overturned Dassey's conviction back in August, ruling that investigators had tricked him into confessing that he helped his uncle, Steven Avery, rape, murder, and mutilate Teresa Halbach in 2005.

Steve Drizin, Dassey's attorney, says that he hasn't spoken with Dassey yet, but hopes to have him home in time to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family.

Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel plans to put in an emergency motion in the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to put the release order on hold.

Dassey's release wasn't immediate. He has until noon tomorrow (11/15) to provide a living address to the federal probation and parole office. Drizin did not reveal where Dassey planned to live.
