Multiple people who have seen the latest mugshot of Brandon Scott Lavergne, the man who was arrested in the Mickey Shunick case, have been curious about the fresh scar on his neck. Earlier today, KATC acquired an incident report from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department showing that Lavergne was being treated for stab wounds in an area hospital less than 24 hours after Shunick's disappearance.

According to KATC:

Deputies say they arrived at Oschner Hospital on Jefferson Highway just after 11:00 pm on May 19, 2012 after a man showed up there after being stabbed. The victim, identified as Brandon Lavergne, told police he was attacked outside of a gas station.

The deputy that filed the report told Lafayette Police that he was attacked around 3 PM on Saturday, May 19th and was unsure where exactly the gas station was. He told police that his GPS was nonoperational and he was lost so he stopped at a nearby gas station to ask for directions. He said that he was then attacked and described his attacker as a white male, with gold teeth, a neck tattoo, wearing a #24 Saints football jersey and a black hat covering most of his face.

Lavergne was stabbed several times in the chest, back, neck, and hand. You can see the neck would from the mugshot to the left. His wallet was reported stolen which included his driver's license and $40 in cash. He then told police than he drove around until he found the nearest hospital.

The deputy who wrote the incident report asked Lavergne if he has any type of recollection of the location where the attack took place, like asking if he recognized buildings, street names, or landmarks. He told the deputy that was in town to visit a friend and that he would be returning home after his hospital visit.

The deputy went on to say the more he questioned Lavergne about the incident, the less information he would provide. The Oschner medical staff told police that his stab wounds were not 'life-threatening', so they allowed him to leave the hospital.

Police are classifying this as an aggravated battery and theft under $500, with Lavergne being listed as the victim.
