Benefit Home Run Derby This Weekend In Opelousas
How many home runs can you hit? The Home Run Derby Competition is open to all! There are classes of competition for adults and kids. Participants get 10 swings for $20; kids can compete for free. The goal is to hit more home runs than Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow. The winner of each competition will receive a t-shirt and a trophy.
Chief Gallow started this event a few years back as a fun way to have a softball tournament, home run competition and to help raise money for the operations for the Boys and Girls Club in Opelousas. The Chief was a member of the UL baseball team from 1982-85 and supports the Club in Opelousas in many ways.
The event happens Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 10:00 AM-until at South City Park (1524 S. Market Street, Opelousas, LA, 70570) For for information call 337-943-7120. Concessions will be sold, no ice chests will be allowed. There will be Fun Jumps for the kids too.
