"Along with the sunshine, there's gotta be a little rain sometimes" is a lesson we've been taught long before Lynn Anderson put the words to music.

And when it comes to progress, we frequently have to "put up with" a slight inconvenience for a short while as improvements are made.

Okay, sometimes it's a huge inconvenience for a long while (I'm looking at you, Kaliste Saloom).

This one, though, is a slight one.

The city of Youngsville has announced improvements to Bonin Road, from Fortune Road to Ambassador Caffery.

If you've ever driven down that section of Bonin Road, you are probably fully aware of the need for improvements in that area. When you pass an oncoming car, it feels like you are standing with 3 other people in a 2-butt kitchen.

To allow for the improvements, the roadway must be totally closed down for a while, so if you need to get to Fortune Road or points south from Ambassador Caffery, you'd be best served to take Chemin Metairie or the Youngsville Highway.

Bonin Road, between Ambassador and Fortune, will be closed beginning Monday, November 7, and will remain closed until the improvements are completed. Since that section of the road is less than a mile long, the hope is that the work can be completed in record time.

Weather permitting, of course.

Bonin Road, from Fortune Road to Ambassador Caffery Parkway, will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning on Monday, November 7, 2022, until completion. Motorists will need to use alternate routes during this time period such as Verot School Road, Chemin Metairie Road, or Youngsville Hwy (Hwy 89). This is a joint project between the City of Youngsville and the Lafayette Parish Government. The City and Parish appreciate your understanding and patience while this much-needed road widening and overlay of Bonin Road is under construction. - City of Youngsville

Your patience and understanding are appreciated.
