Will ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Perform At The Next Super Bowl?

Super Bowl halftime shows are running out of big names to capture the attention of fans. Two comedians are suggesting a weird choice for next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
Comedy musicians Paul and Storm proposed the idea of letting noted song-parody artist “Weird Al” Yankovic perform as the halftime act during the next Super Bowl, and some people have started to support the idea.

Paul and Storm believe Weird Al would make for an ideal halftime act because of his “incredibly wide, positive appeal,” “wide swath of musical styles” and “unparalleled showmanship and production values.”

So far, the suggestion has been garnering some serious support. New York Daily News columnist Julian Garcia came to the same conclusion after watching Madonna perform.

Go ahead and laugh. That’s what he wants you to do. And that’s exactly what you will be doing at halftime of Super Bowl XVLII if I get my way.

SB Nation columnist Christopher Gates noted that next year marks Yankovic’s 30th year in the business since the release of his first self-titled album. Gates contends if the NFL hired Weird Al for the show, the last thing they would have to worry about is another wardrobe malfunction or loose middle finger.

And honestly, can you even remotely picture Weird Al doing anything offensive and embarrassing on stage during his performance? I can’t even remember the man using curse words in any of his parodies over the years…obviously the guy can do a “clean” show.

We wholeheartedly agree, except for one little detail: Clearly Gates hasn’t seen Yankovic’s “Perform This Way” video. We still can’t erase it from our minds.
