Governor Jon Bel Edwards has signed two new laws that have to do with getting your driver's license.

Senator Ryan Gatti and Representative Chad Brown wrote the bills that Gov. Edwards signed.

The first, Act 334 (House Bill 241) makes it mandatory for driving schools in Louisiana to teach their students what to do, and what not to do when pulled over by law enforcement.

The second, Act 286 (Senate Bill 17) uses the previous bill in requiring the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles to test applicants on their knowledge of what to do, and what not to do when pulled over by law enforcement.

Starting August 1st, schools will have to incorporate the teachings.

Starting January 1st, 2018, Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles will have to begin testing applicants on the subject.
