Former Cinderella singer Tom Keifer has released a video for the new song “Rise,” the title track from his current group #keiferband's album, which is out today.

The song was co-written with Keifer's wife, Savannah, and country artists Thompson Square. The singer called the track an “uplifting, spiritual” piece.

You can watch the video below.

“I’ve never had such a strong reaction to an unreleased song before,” he told Billboard in a new interview. “I think it’s because people hear the lyric and connect with it. ... People can relate to it. Life is never going to be without challenges, whether small daily ones or long-term ones that last months or years, and we hope this song inspires people to be able to ride that roller coaster and overcome the lows and enjoy the highs.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Keifer discussed the rigorous training regime he undertook to deal with partial vocal-cord paralysis that began in the ‘90s.

“I was told I’d never sing again,” he recalled. “There’s no medical treatment for it. The only prayer of regaining my voice was to train it and strengthen the weak side. It was an opera technique that got me back on track, and now my voice is really strong again. The vocal styling [now] is as intense as the early days of Cinderella.”

He also explained why his solo band continued to play Cinderella material. "The stamp of my voice and guitar style is pretty much on anything I perform as an artist," he said. "It’s just there. [The songs are] a part of me. I love those songs. I was in Cinderella for 30 years, so it’s very important to me.”
