Watch This Time-Lapse Video Of The New World Trade Center Construction
In this stunning video, you can watch the progress of a decade's worth of construction at the site of Ground Zero.
Earlier this year, the Freedom Tower received its spire, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, at 1,776 feet. The skyscraper is the final piece of the rebuilt New York City skyline that was shattered 12 years ago.
The 9/11 Memorial (officially known as the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center) opened two years ago, on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in 2001. The first day, on Sept. 11, 2011, the Memorial was open just to families of the victims. The following day it opened to the public. The Museum (which is separate from the Memorial) is still under construction and is set to open in the spring of 2014.
The next major development for the site is the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, which is set to open in 2015. Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, the Hub will serve 250,000 daily commuters and millions of visitors each year.
