Every new image from the Power Rangers movie is like a fun game of “what the heck is that?” Based on what we’ve seen so far, we’ve determined the aesthetic to be somewhere in the ballpark of “Joel Schumacher’s avant garde Mortal Kombat.” Today brings another puzzling image that makes for the most challenging round of this game yet, offering what is allegedly our first look at Bryan Cranston as Zordon — but what is it, really? No, seriously. You tell us.

The Power Rangers Now fansite revealed this bizarre image, reportedly taken from the Power Rangers VR experience, which is debuting tomorrow, January 5. This image first surfaced on Reddit, and supposedly shows Cranston as Zordon, the mentor to the Power Rangers. Oh, and also that little blob of light in the bottom left is apparently Alpha-5, voiced by Bill Hader.

What even is this? I feel like a host in Westworld because it doesn’t look like anything to me. I showed this image to the ScreenCrush editorial team for another lively round of “what the heck is that?” and this is how they responded:

“LOL. That is a picture of a cell phone is what that is.” – Matt Singer

“Looks like the Cat in the Hat stuck inside a blue blob.” – Erin Whitney

“It looks like an outtake from Batman and Robin. On a phone.” – Matt

Whatever it is, this looks nothing like Bryan Cranston as Zordon in the Power Rangers movie. Pretty bold claim, internet.

So what does this look like to you guys? Joel Schumacher’s Id? A hallucination from a college dorm room in 2002? Anything? Bueller?
