Even if you’ve never seen the show, you should know from the title that happy pop songs are strictly off limits to any commercial for ‘The Walking Dead‘ — and the show’s Season 3 trailer, debuted at Comic-Con over the weekend, is no exception.

Soundtracked with a cut from Canadian roots trio the Wailin’ Jennys, the traditional song ‘The Parting Glass,’ the new trailer reveals just enough of the upcoming season’s storyline to reaffirm the show’s central conflict (humans thrown together from all walks of life to fight for survival against a rampaging horde of zombies) while keeping most things secret.

And of course, while most fans of the Wailin’ Jennys’ brand of mournful lyrics and impeccable harmonies probably never suspected that their music would someday be used to underscore scenes of a zombie apocalypse, you have to admit ‘The Parting Glass’ sets the mood pretty well. Check out the clip below, and look for the full-length version of the group’s take on ‘Glass’ on their debut release, ’40 Days,’ released in 2004.
