One thing folks in Louisiana love to debate on social media is school closures and here's one day to discuss.

The Lafayette Parish School System announced Monday afternoon that Southside would be closed on Tuesday to "properly clean the contaminated area."

The decision on whether to open or close public schools in Lafayette Parish will be made at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29th, according to Lafayette Parish School officials and our news partners at KATC.

As icy road conditions continue throughout Acadiana, some schools will remain closed Thursday, Jan. 30.

Just received word this morning that two schools in St. Mary Parish are closed today due to no electricity. West St. Mary High School and B. Edward Boudreaux Middle School have cancelled classes today.
