The Ragin Cajuns Softball team has become the standard in the Sun Belt conference. Everyone in the Sun Belt is chasing the Cajuns. The Cajuns swept Coastal Carolina over the weekend to extend their series victory record to 80 straight Sun Belt series victories.
The reigning champions of the Sun Belt Conference will get to defend their title at home next year as Lamson Park was named as the 2023 host of the SBC Softball Tournament on Thursday.
Coming off of a loss to Auburn to start Regional play, UL Softball had to win two games on Saturday to advance to Championship Sunday. And the Cajuns did just that. Louisiana beat UNCW 3-1 and Auburn 4-3.
UL Softball is in a weekend series with Appalachian State. The Cajuns lost game 1 Friday afternoon 1-4. So on Saturday, they were looking for redemption as they beat App State 8-2.
After coming off of a great performance last weekend against Troy, the UL Softball team was headed to Alabama. UL started their weekend series against South Alabama. The Cajuns beat the Jaguars 10-6 to start the weekend.
The UL Softball team played Troy for the final game of their weekend series. Going into the game the Cajuns had already won the series. So against Troy, they were looking to get the sweep. The Cajuns in fact did get the sweep and won 10-0!
UL Softball came out this weekend on a mission. The Cajuns faced UT Arlington for another weekend Sun Belt series. The Cajuns dominated as they won all three games via the mercy rule. They won game 1 9-1, game 2 10-0, and game 3 10-0.
The Cajuns began Sun Belt play this weekend. However, Friday's game against Georgia State was suspended due to weather. So the Cajuns were forced to resume Friday's game in the 3rd inning and play Saturdays as well. The Cajuns lost the first game 1-4 and won the second 10-6.
The Mardi Gras Mambo tournament is officially over. The Cajuns coming off of 4 wins in two days were up against Alabama to close out the weekend. UL lost to them on Thursday and was ready for the rematch. However, sadly the Cajuns just didn't have enough and lost to Bama via the run rule in the 5th 8-0.
The Ragin Cajuns started off the softball season 5-0 as they went on to play Nicholls Tuesday night. The Cajuns beat Nicholls 10-2 via the mercy rule in the 5th inning.
This past Sunday, Toby Blisette, assistant softball coach for New Iberia youth team The Dugout Dabbers brought his team to just watch the Cajuns softball team take on Appalachian State, but what the Cajuns did for his team will make you proud.
Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball pitcher Christina Hamilton has been recognized as the top female athlete in the state of Louisiana, winning the prestigious James J. Corbett Award.
