The New Orleans metal scene is pulling together to help out ailing Eyehategod frontman Mike IX Williams with medical expenses with a special benefit show.

After a match was found for Williams, he was rushed into surgery and given a liver transplant late last night (Dec. 14).

One of 2013's biggest tragedies was the death of Eyehategod drummer Joey LaCaze. A longtime innovator in the sludge metal community, LaCaze was mourned by many after passing away from respiratory failure. Although LaCaze is no longer with us, Eyehategod are determined to continue on, planning to release a new album this April.

Nearly one month ago, Eyehategod drummer Joey LaCaze passed away at the age of 42. As an essential part of the Southern sludge movement, LaCaze's death sent a shockwave through the underground metal community. Pantera / Down vocalist Phil Anselmo, who was close with LaCaze, has just offered a heartfelt memorial for the drummer.

On Aug. 23, Joseph H. LaCaze, drummer for New Orleans sludge legends Eyehategod, passed away. The underground metal community has been mourning the loss of LaCaze ever since, and the cause of the drummer's death has now been made public.

In the wake of the passing of Eyehategod's Joey LaCaze over the weekend, many rockers have come forward to pay their respects to the veteran drummer through social networking.

According to reports, Eyehategod drummer Joey LaCaze has passed away. LaCaze was 42 years old and leaves behind a wife and a child.
