In almost 30 years of playing soccer, I've never heard of this happening!

Unless Yahoo! Sports suddenly became The Onion, this is a true story. Two Swedish soccer clubs, Järna SK and Pershagen SK, were playing one another. The left back for Järna SK, Adam Lindin Ljungkvist, had already received a yellow card during the match. He also had a "bad stomach."

Having this bad stomach, Ljungkvist said he "simply let go."

In most games, of any sport, this would go unnoticed. At the most, some people on the field might smell it, and have a disgusted laugh. Turns out, this was not most games.

Referee Dany Kako showed Ljungkvist a yellow for his fart! [For those that don't know, two yellow cards in the same match results in a red card]

Of course Ljungkvist was shocked. "I asked the referee, 'What, am I not allowed to break wind a little?'"

" 'No,' he replied. … I don't get it but maybe he thought I farted in my hand and threw the fart at him. But I did not." Ljungkvist continued.

"I perceived it as deliberate provocation," Kako said, "He did it on purpose and it was inappropriate. Therefore, he received a yellow card."

"To provoke anyone with a fart is not particularly smart or normal," Ljungkvist said. "It's nonsense – I just broke wind and got a red card. I spoke to the referee afterwards, I was annoyed, but there were no bad words. I just said he was a buffoon."

In over 100 years of organized soccer, I'm fairly certain this is a first! So, congrats to Ljungkvist for making history with a fart!
