Summer Has Officially Ended… With A Harvest Moon
Have you noticed the moon tonight?
If you have you might have noticed it was quite big, but if you thought it was just a full moon then you were sadly mistaken.
It is called a Harvest Moon. This type of moon signifies that summer has officially come to an end.
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, this moon relates to the autumnal equinox and was given its name due to the extra light that was provided to farmers so that they could finish harvesting their crops.
The Harvest Moon will rise at sunset for about three nights in a row, so if you didn’t get a chance to see it tonight don’t worry you still have a chance tomorrow.
In the meantime here are some of the amazing photos that are floating around on the internet tonight of the Harvest Moon.
