Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer original cut their teeth with FOX’s M. Night Shyamalan-produced Wayward Pines, and now the Sixth Sense and Split director may be looking for them to return the favor. By his own admission, Shyamalan is game to direct an episode of Stranger Things, but is it already too late?

Shyamalan made the admission to Digital Spy, noting that a Stranger Things directing credit would add to the multiple TV credits accrued in the past few years. Wishful thinking is one thing, but as Shyamalan points out, both he and the Duffers do share the Wayward Pines connection:

My boys who do Stranger Things, they did Wayward Pines for me. They were round my house and I was like, ‘Well, you can hire me back guys!’

Season 1 directing duties were split between the Duffers and Shawn Levy, who himself confirmed Season 2 would repeat a pattern of Matt and Ross directing the first two installments, leaving three and four to him. Those episodes were said to be filming in December and January, and it would seem likely that Season 2 already has the final five directors locked down (if the Duffers even bring in new directors).

Still, Stranger Things is likely to continue its story with a third season, so might M. Night Shyamalan get his chance then? What could go wrong, right? Guys? Hello?
