Steven Spielberg Now Involved With The Sequel To ‘The Goonies’

Rumors have been going around for years now that a sequel to 'The Goonies' has been in development. TMZ recently asked director Richard Donner if Steven Spielberg, the story-writer and producer of the first film would be involved in the sequel.

Donner told TMZ:

Hopefully we're going to get this done, period. Steven came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years. You don't do it without him. We've been trying for a long time, then he came up with another storyline and he's right on.

He was also asked if any of the original cast, which includes Josh Brolin, Sean Astin and Corey Feldman would be involved in the sequel, to which he replied:

God knows, it's up to them. If they have any sense they will; if they don't, they won't.
