Forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center are now suggesting that Louisiana will be included in likely scenario that includes severe storms, possible tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail ahead of an approaching frontal system scheduled to move through the state late Friday into early Saturday morning.

The current severe weather outlook for Friday puts much of western Louisiana under an enhanced risk for severe storms. Those heavy storms will rumble across the rest of the state during the small hours of Saturday morning and when they do, they could still be packing quite a punch.

Most of the forecast models are suggesting that Acadiana's greatest threat of strong storms and severe weather will likely come early Saturday morning. The good news is that the system should move through the area rather rapidly.

Naturally, this forecast will be tweaked and fine-tuned the closer the storm system gets. Now would be a good time to make sure you have our station app downloaded and installed. We also encourage you to set up push notifications or alerts for important weather information. That can be done by accessing the settings tab on the app.
