Sepultura Planning To Release New Album In 2013
Brazilian thrash legends Sepultura have just revealed that they are about to enter the studio once again! Sepultura vocalist Derrick Green announced the band's intent to release a new full-length album before the end of 2013, most likely during October or November.
Sepultura received mostly positive reviews for their previous effort, 'Kairos,' which was unleashed in 2011. The thrashers are currently working on lucky album No. 13 and the writing process is nearly completed.
"We have written most of the music already and now we are working on lyrics for the album," Green tells Rock Overdose. "We should have everything ready before we hit the studio June 1st. The album is sounding really sinister, dark, and metal as hell! It's been great working with (drummer) Eloy (Casagrande) in the writing process because it brings a whole different energy to the music. The many changes that have been going on in our lives and in the world also add to the making of the new album. We hope to have it released around the end of October/November on Nuclear Blast."
In other Sepultura news, the thrash legends recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a documentary, which has been in the works for the past three years. "About 50% of the film has been shot so far," reads a statement on Sepultura's Kickstarter page. "We have witnessed this historic band experiencing wrenching transformations and unprecedented growth. We opened Sepultura‘s vault and dig into the best rare and unseen footage of the last 30 years. We will see them at their most vulnerable and human, and also as idols of the heavy metal genre. Those elements make the overall film an uncommonly powerful statement."
Stay tuned for further updates on Sepultura's thirteenth studio album and future documentary.
