Ok, kidding about last pack of smokes, but serious about bassist Rex Brown quitting New Orleans supergroup Down. Brown says he won’t return Down because he’s concentrating on his new band, Kill Devil Hill. The strange thing is, no one can confirm if he's told the guys in Down if he's officially quit and won't be returning. In the meantime, Down are currently touring with Crowbar bass player Pat Bruders temporarily replacing Brown. Pepper Keenan of Down was asked if Rex was still in the band, to which he replied “I don’t know what to say – we’ve given him an ultimatum.”

It seems that Brown has it figured out though, telling Metal Assault “Kill Devil Hill is it. I’m not doing any Down. This is my devotion right here – there’s no side gigs or anything else that’s going on. This is what it’s going to be about for the future.”

Love me some Rex...sad to see him leave Down, but can't wait to hear his new project!
