No, they didn't play a 45-minute version of Led Zeppelin's 'Dazed and Confused.' In fact, the Red Hot Chili Peppers did exactly what you probably expected them to do as the special guests of the Super Bowl halftime show -- play 'Give it Away' while bouncing around like teenage lunatics.

And you know what? That's just what the occasion called for, and they did it well. Let's just be grateful they didn't try to shoehorn the chorus of 'Under the Bridge' or something from their new album into their allotted five minutes of airtime. Of course Flea and Anthony Kiedis were shirtless, but the censors can be glad they didn't celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Janet Jackson's famous "wardrobe malfunction" by taking their pants off like they might have done 20 years ago.

Let's also give credit where it's due to main attraction Bruno Mars, who sang, danced, saluted our troops and even played drums very well during his portion of the program.
