Police: 10 People Killed in Colorado Supermarket Shooting

(UPDATED Story) BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Police say 10 people have been killed in a shooting at a Colorado supermarket, including a police officer.

Boulder police Chief Maris Herold said at a news conference Monday night that a suspect is in custody and is getting medical treatment. Police say they’re still investigating and didn’t have details on a motive.

The officer who was killed was 51-year-old Eric Talley. He had been with Boulder police since 2010.

Identities of the other nine victims were not disclosed Monday night as police were still notifying their family members.

(Original Story) BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Authorities in Colorado have responded to what they said was an active shooter at a supermarket.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured Monday, but a shirtless man with blood running down his leg was escorted out of the store in handcuffs by two police officers. Police in Boulder tweeted that the shooter is at a King Soopers grocery store. Television helicopter video showed law enforcement vehicles and officers massing outside the store, including SWAT teams, and at least three helicopters on the roof. Authorities over a loudspeaker said the building was surrounded and that “you need to surrender.”

Officers helped some people out of the store to safety.
