Police Say Pokemon Go Is Leading To Armed Robberies
Police are cautioning Pokemon Go gamers after a group used the game to lure unsuspecting players directly into an armed robbery.
Four suspects were arrested by police and a handgun was retrieved after authorities received reports of an armed robbery Sunday morning (7/10). The suspects targeted their victims through the Pokemon Go app.
The game forces players to go outside (yes, in actual real life) and walk to "Pokestops" where they can "re-up on Pokeballs" and other items in the popular game. Police say that is how the suspects lured their victims into danger.
the way we believe it was used is you can add a beacon to a pokestop to lure more players. Apparently they were using the app to locate ppl standing around in the middle of a parking lot or whatever other location they were in
The suspects are also accused of other robberies as well, but it is unclear as to whether those involved the Pokemon Go app or not.
