After the United States determined that North Korea was behind the Sony Pictures cyberattack, the country has now received a cyberattack of their own because their internet went completely down today.

This all comes after a group of hackers calling themselves the 'Guardians of Peace', hacked the servers of Sony Pictures, leaking DVD Screeners of unreleased films and films currently in theaters, movie scripts, emails and employee information such as social security numbers and more.

The reason behind the hack was Sony's new film 'The Interview', a film about assassinating North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un. The film stars Seth Rogan and James Franco and the premiere and release has been cancelled due to threats from the GOP.

President Obama made a statement saying that the United States would offer a “proportional response” to North Korea’s hack against Sony Pictures. It is unclear if the United States is involved in North Korea's internet shutdown. From his words, it seems like they executed a "hack back".

Also, there has been rumor that the United States also asked China to assist in shutting down North Korea's internet because of this act of 'cybervandalism'. The Chinese government has yet to make a statement on this.
