There will be no Mardi Gras parade in Duson this year since no permit was requested by the Duson Mardi Gras Association.

According to Duson Police Chief Kip Judice,

No permit was applied for yet, so it would be impossible to issue a permit just three weeks out from Mardi Gras. At this time I could not get the needed police presence to safe guard the parade route with so many other activities going on. No money was budgeted for the parade since we had not been asked for a permit.

Judice said the Duson Mardi Gras Association is already making plans to request a permit for 2017 which should give the town sufficient time to budget for the parade.
