New iPad Mini With Retina Display Announced For November
The new iPad Mini with Retina Display was just announced at today's Apple Special Event, fulfilling the wishes of many fans of eye-candy.
The iPad Mini with Retina Display will boast a 7.9-inch screen with a 2048 x 1536 resolution, making it identical to the iPad Air in terms of resolution. This means it will be able to run the same apps as its big brother. The new Mini's guts are also similar in that it comes with a 64-bit architecture A7 processor that makes is 4x faster at CPU tasks and 8x faster at graphics tasks.
Apple claims that the new Mini will also have a 10-hour battery life and enjoy WiFi connections twice as fast thanks to Mimo, as well as expanded LTE support for cellular services. Other hardware goodies include a 5MP iSight camera and the new FaceTime HD camera.
You'll be able to pick up silver/white and space gray/black models when the iPad Mini with Retina Display is released some time in November, starting at $399 for 16GB WiFi models and $529 for 16GB cellular models. As a bonus, the original iPad mini will be lowered to $299, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
