A homeowner in Zachary shot and critically injured a naked man who forced his way into a home early Sunday morning.

The incident happened just before 1:00 am in the 22200 block Sutter Lane in Zachary.

The homeowner told deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office that his dog started barking on the back porch so he went outside to see why they were barking. It was then he first saw the naked man and told him several times to back up.

The man didn't listen and forced his way in the home before the homeowner shot him.

The unidentified man was later taken to the hospital where he remained in critical but stable condition on Sunday afternoon.

No charges have been filed yet, but investigators haven't been able to talk to the man due to his medical condition.
