More Charges Filed Against Endymion Crash Driver
Neilson Rizzuto might be spending the rest of his life in jail. As more and more charges are being filed in connection with his arrest on Saturday, February 25. It is alleged that Rizzuto was behind the wheel of a pickup truck and was drunk.
Initial reports from the scene reported at least 32 people were injured in the incident which sent 21 of those to the hospital. In an opinion from legal analyst Tim Meche on Monday, there were concerns that based on the charges filed at that time that Rizzuto could spend as little as 5 years in custody because of his actions.
As more charges have been filed it becomes more and more likely that this young man will pay for his poor choices with a significant amount of his life. That's because Rizzuto has been charged with an additional 22 counts of negligent vehicular injury.
Loyola law professor Dane Ciolino suggested in his comments to the Louisiana Radio Network that the number of charges could still increase as more and more of the victims decide to press charges against the young man.
The amount of time he faces depends upon the number of counts, but in theory, he could get 30 stacked consecutive sentences that could keep him in jail for the rest of his life
Ciolino speculated that the very least Rizzuto could be facing would be 10 years behind bars for his actions. He also suggests that this won't be the endo of Rizzuto's legal issues. He will most likely be charged with a host of civil suits that are likely to be filed by the victims.
This man’s got serious problems. The evidence against him is substantial, and the time that he faces is significant.
