A Baton Rouge man is in jail because he refused to tell police who the LSU player was that he sold cleats and gloves on eBay for.

25-year-old Fletcher Sanders told police that he sold cleats and gloves worn in the upset game when LSU defeated Ole Miss back in October, for an LSU football player. Instead of snitching on the player, Sanders chose jail-time.

Sanders told police that he sold the items on eBay for an LSU player, but when investigators asked who the player was, he clammed up.

After being told he would be arrested if he withheld the information, Sanders said, "Do what you have to. I am not going to be responsible for ruining someone’s career.”

He was booked on counts of principal to theft and possession of stolen things. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond.

The records claim that the equipment belongs to the school, who then leases out the equipment to the students/players. The players are not allowed to giveaway or sell the items.

Now, do you think that the player should indeed be punished? How do you feel about college players not being able to make money off of their abilities, even though they are, in essence, responsible for bringing so much money to their university?
