LSU Unlucky With Irish In Music City Bowl
LSU lost to Notre Dame, 31-28, on a last second field goal in the Music City Bowl in Nashville.
Senior Notre Dame kicker Kyle Brindza kicked a 32 yard field goal as time expired to upset #22 LSU 31-28.
Notre Dame started red hot, scoring touchdowns on two of their first three possessions. The LSU defense was dominated early. The Tigers offense sputtered early despite scoring a touchdown on their second possession of the game.
It was freshman sensation Leonard Fournette who sparked the Tiger scoring with a 100 yard kickoff return in the 2nd quarter. It was one of three TDs byFournette, including a Music City Bowl record long 89 yard rushing touchdown.
Anthony Jennings was 7 of 14 passing for 151 yards that included a 75 yard touchdown pass to John Diarse.
Fournette had 143 yards rushing on 11 attempts with three total touchdowns including the kick return score.
John Diarse's two catches netted a team leading 76 yards. Tight End DeSean Smith led LSU with four catches.
LSU and Notre Dame both finish the season with 8-5 records. The Tigers loss to the Irish was the only loss of the season to a non-SEC West team.
