LSU defeated No.3 Ole Miss this past Saturday night at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. This was definitely the biggest win of the season so far for the Tigers. After the final seconds ran off the clock in Death Valley, LSU fans went crazy and ran onto the field to celebrate the victory!

LSU was fined $5,000 by the SEC for the first-offense violation of a policy that doesn't allow fans to enter the competition area. This policy was adopted in 2004. The last time Tiger fans stormed onto the filed after a victory was in 2001, after a victory against Auburn in which LSU clinched the SEC West title and a berth in the SEC Championship Game.

If LSU violates this policy again, the fine will be $25,000 and $50,000 for a third violation. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive had this to say about the violation:

While we understand the excitement and enthusiasm that are produced by a victory, it must be emphasized that significant risk of injury for student-athletes and fans alike can result from incidents such as these.

Joe Alleva, the LSU Athletic Director, said that he didn't mind the fine from the SEC and said that he hopes they will get fined a second time when the Alabama Crimson Tide comes to Death Valley on November 8th. Alleva told the LSU official website:

I hope I have to spend it again two weeks from now!
