Louisiana’s Own & World’s Oldest Pig Passes Away At 23

Another Louisiana native, and world record holder has passed away. He should have also been in a world record book for the BEST name ever...

"Pig Floyd" was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest pig back in August of 2013. It's not certain if he was listed as the world's oldest pig at the time of his death. Currently the Guinness website says that record is held by a pig in Canada with the slightly more boring name of Ernestine.

The Fernandez family, Pig Floyd's owners, said Thursday (Feb. 5) that he moved on to the "big smokehouse in the sky" at the age of 23.

The average life expectancy for a pig is 10-15 years.
